There’s more that happens behind the scenes when it comes to conquering mountains than a single summit picture will ever portray.

Lots of mental and spiritual prep work is going down, and it’s creating a lot of love and compassion, liberation and ease in my life. It’s a wonderful time to seek our highest potential.

The 4 agreements are a beautiful guide to living each day more fully in truth, gentleness, and accountability. They are pillars to living a life more aligned with the particles that make up our being.

I never got around to posting my trail notes from last months epic summit. I didn’t know if I was proud of my accomplishment or not, given things went kinda south.

The verdict is: I live for what I do, and things going south is part of making me feel more alive than ever. I’m grateful for all the raw, nasty, glorious experiences that my adventures have shaped me with, to date.

March 29th was a wild ride. The kind of ride that takes a lot of post-processing post epic feat...

I have come to realize that my self-worth is conditional. When I’m moving, I’m doing, and I’m worthy. When I’m hurt, I feel directionless, worthless, and unaccomplished. This is not only mentally draining but it’s also very damaging. It’s an unhealthy way of defining our self-worth by what we do, or don’t do.

Last month, I summited a snowy peak in trail runners, 3/4 length leggings, and a trail running pack with a hot coffee and a power bar, micro spikes, and a windbreaker. It was a gloriously sunny day, and I was hella happy. I was in my fucking element and there was NO turning back. Lots of things went wrong that day, and it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m here, and I’m well.

It took me a month to recover to 70%. I recovered my exposed legs from frostbite and my fingertips are nearly rid of frostnip. I still have nerve tingling in my feet, and I have a hip injury that may be a symptom of my lower back / gait issue.

Here’s what I can do: I can cycle, pain free. I can complete my job pain free, and I can use my quiet time to dedicate 2+ hrs to working in: as in, gait training, rehab, conditioning, and working through neuromuscular stabilization mvmts. There’s no point focusing on what I can’t do.

I take this time to work inwards, and understand how to shift from conditional to unconditional. When shit happens, it allows space for determining: what works, what doesn’t, what needs attention, & where we need to divest.

My comeback is uncertain and will be different. That’s ok. Let be, what will be. I have a will to improve, and where there is a will, there is a way.

As I continue to recover my body from last months

As I continue to recover my body from last months adventure, I have been focusing on a lot of inner work.

Today’s coaching session covered the 4 stages of love - it spoke to me on so many levels: how I float through the stages of love regarding myself, my friendships and relationships, and my outdoor play.

Exploring the theme of love is probably my favourite and also most difficult. It requires unpacking the baggage, acknowledging the stories and narratives of the past that I continue to live by, and learning to re-write them and re-wire the brain.

A lot of my discussions these days explore where we choose to focus our energy and attention. Is it on the old narrative & the shadows?

Through our language, do we create unity, worthiness to have and feel whatever we desire, and look at the light: what is directly in front of us and around us?

These are just a few prompts and things to reflect on and think about. Perhaps an inspiration to journal about for you 🌻

a dear friend I admire is @solarus_cascadia // his dedication to self, family, body, spirit, and mind, is incredible. I am grateful to share the many values that make our mountain adventures more wholesome.

Thanks to my boss, who reminded me of this quote today. A reminder who to look up to, who to give energy to.... examine how people lead their lives, what they make time for, and where they put their energy and focus.

some missions are heavier learning lessons than ot

some missions are heavier learning lessons than others. Last week it was the heavier kind...

So reflecting back on my venture last week, I have come full circle. I was chewed up, and spit back out alive and I’m so grateful for the wild experience that I had. It shapes me into who I am and who I long to be.

Who was I before my solo missions? Complacent, lacked a voice, little resilience, weak soul, lacked individual thought and action.

Some ways in which my missions have allowed me to grow: I’m resilient: mentally and physically. I get shit done despite the pain. I know dedication and I have respect for myself. I have a voice, I listen to my soul, and I am strong but still gentle.

Last week, I post-holed in the snow for approx half my 18km route. It was horrendous. I packed minimally, like usual. I CHOSE to continue in conditions I didn’t prepare for, but have gear for (usually tucked in the car lol). I am strongly connected to my instinct within the mountains that allows me to succeed in a way that still gets me out of situations half decently.

I am recovering from my adventure that I have no regrets doing, but admit, wasn’t the best of my judgment calls as of late. I have had extensive conversations with a few friends and acquaintances about the fire behind why we do what we do. Sometimes, when you’re out there, you’re so fully immersed in your element, it’s SO difficult to turn back. I have ALWAYS struggled with this, but more so when I’m on my own.

18km felt GLORIOUS. It felt fluid. I wanted more distance, more gain - I charged. I fell more than I ever have, I tumbled down a slope without knowing if I’d stop, I experienced all the roughness of getting out of dangerous territory. And I both, loved it and hated it.

I was both terrified and calm. I do work on my mental stress a lot. I HAVE to take enough B Vitamins to ease the stress I put myself through mentally and physically. And it helps. It allows me to navigate through tough situations without panic.

I share my raw experiences because I know some of you connect with this...

I am recovering slowly but surely from frostnip and mild frostbite. Stay gold out there ᨏ
